Wavewalk Kayak is Crazy Stable- Emphasis on the Crazy

When I saw this this post on wavewalk.com I honestly thought it was going to be a joke. Who would be crazy enough to water test their kayak in the face of Hurricane Irene- Wavewalk that’s who.

The wind was blowing at 35 mph, with long gusts of up to 55 mph, beating the waters of this small lake to waves between 1 and 2 ft high.
Such waves are almost unnoticed when you’re paddling the W500, but paddling standing up against such powerful headwind isn’t easy, as you’ll see in this movie:

I especially liked the paddlers perspective, looks like GoPro footage. Nice work guys!

The Leaf Blower Powered Wavewalk

We’ve covered the Wavealk kayaks in the past, and it’s no doubt that they’re some of the most bad ass kayaks we’ve seen for fishing. Check out this video where a guy retrofitted a leaf blower into an air powered motor for his wavewalk!

It doesn’t look very efficient, but it sure beats paddling!

Wavewalk Kayak Super Stability Demo

We’ve covered the Wavewalk kayaks before, and this video is just as impressive as the last, if not just for the guy’s cardio. I feel tired just watching him! Definitely looks like a great fishing kayak that could handle some really big fish. I’d love to have one of these on the Toronto Islands, or better yet dropped out of a helicopter on to Little Vermilion. But now I’m just dreaming…

Wavewalk Kayaks

We’ve seen some pretty unique kayaks in the past, but the Wavewalk kayak looks ideal for fishermen. The shape allows for stability that is simply unattainable in a standard kayak. You can sit, kneel and stand upright, even in waves!

Check this one out, its all rigged up for fishing!

The price? From $850 to $1250 depening on the size.
