New Mepps Catalog
Hi! I'm sure that at least a few of you got the new Mepps 2010 catalog. Their new Dorsal Fin lure looks pretty deadly, but thats not what I'm here for. My question: What kind of fish is the man to the lower right of the cover with the rod in his mouth holding? For those of you who don't have the catalog, it is a large (freshwater?) fish with black-tipped scales over a yellow/gold body. It also has distinctive orange anal and tailfins, with a black stripe running horizontally through the latter. He caught it on an orange/gold Little Wolf. Any help is appreciated!

Re: New Mepps Catalog
While I don’t know the specifics about that trout I will say that the new “Dorsal Fin” looks promising. I think inline spinners are an excellent fish catching lure but I almost never use them due to constant snags and weed clogs. The Dorsal Finn looks pretty weed proof and has the nice tight flash of an inline spinner. Not cheap though…

That is a Dorado (Salminus brasilensis) - They are found in South America and reach 70lbs!

Re: New Mepps Catalog
Zalts are much bigger to Woody!
Pike and muskie lures generally cost way more then other species lures...

Re: New Mepps Catalog
Sure it’s not like one of those crazy jointed swim baits for $40 but still, when compared to a lone SLUGO on a worm hook…
Of course this is coming from someone who doesn’t like to spend more than $15-$20 on a saltwater trolling lure (though I certainly have).

Re: New Mepps Catalog
Yeah my Zalt Lures cost me 20 quid each (40 bucks) and i bought 4 in one go, the trouble is i've not found anywhere yet that i've dared to use them where there isn't a chance that i might lose one! (They might be safer in a cabinet on show!)
