Re: What are your top fishing destinations?
A couple months ago, I read an article about a farmer in Thailand, where he made his own pond/lake, and stocked it with big, exotic fish from around the world.
One of the impressive fish they have in there, is an 'aquarium' type fish. In chinese, it's called a 'boss fish'. It's so aggressive that you can only put it in a fish tank by itself. Anything else will be eaten! They're also expensive, for $1000 for a 12incher!
In the article, they had a stock of 5 of them, 40"+. IF I wanted to fish anywhere in the world, I'd definitely spend a week or more in Thailand, and catch all I need for warm water exotic fish.
some quick google searches for thailand fishing came up with:

Hey Adam! You may be visiting Long Island Sound? Whereabouts? I live on LIS, in Connecticut, it's a pretty nice area.
South America for peacock bass sounds great, but personally, I'm a largemouth kinda guy, so I'm feeling Lake Fork in TX, Clear Lake in CA, and Lake Powell, AZ looks damn amazing.

Re: What are your top fishing destinations?
I am attending a conference in Cold Spring Harbor, and hopefully will add an extra day afterwards to jump on a boat and see what all the fuss is about; it certainly sounds like a great place for fishing. A little research on the internet lately has me inclined toward a boat out of Stony Brook or maybe further down the coast. What's the fishing like in Autumn?

Hmm, that's kinda far from me, I'm on the other side of the sound. I'm also primarily a freshwater fisherman, so I can't say for sure, but I do know the stripers in the area are always pretty damn good.

Well after flights and accomodation was sorted it turns out I only have a half-day free during my trip, the evening before I fly out.

I’d love to go back there now knowing what I know now.
