Muskie Jaws/Teeth?
OK, this might be an odd request!
I'm searching high and low for a few sets of Muskie/Northern Pike
teeth and jaws for a school project. Seriously. I'm trying to recreate
the look of grandpa's tool shed door where he mounted several fish heads.
I guess there's some folklore there somewhere.
I've tried boiling down a couple of salmon and trout heads and of course
they fell apart. And I need some really INTIMIDATING jaws for this project!
Any suggestions? Any teeth???
Willing to pay for this. It's a long shot, but what the heck.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Muskie Jaws/Teeth?
Boiling softens bones, and fish bones are generally of such a small diamater that they will soften quickly. Your best bet might be to use a workforce of beetles and insects that will eat the flesh. You might also try dehydration. Perhaps you should look into some taxidermy methods?
You might want to try finding a carcass rather than catching and killing fish to perfect your method, especially a fish as prized as muskie. Or even better make a fake skull out of clay/wood/etc.
Can you tell us more about your project?Yes, Ed F took my avatar photo.

This guy specializes in fish skeletons, but unless your project has a big budget you may be SOL

Re: Muskie Jaws/Teeth?
The use of the environment is for sure one of the best ways to go...bury the suckers for a bit.
However, I don't know the full details but my Dad would boil deer, bear, critter heads for a bit to get most of the flesh off, then put it in the microwave to get any of the cartalidge out...
sorry for the spelling....
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Muskie Jaws/Teeth?
About 10 years ago i had a shaol of 12 Piranha's about an inch long...Over the years they took each other out until there was just 2 Brutes left at about 12 inch by then...They got on ok until one day i came home from work and one of the Fish was floating at the surface and had had the whole complete back half of him taken away by the other one...I took him out of the tank and bashed him on the head to put him out of his misery and buried him in the back garden...When i dug him back up again, nature had done it's work and i had a nice top and bottom set of Jaws...I then thought i'd be clever and Bleach them to clean them up as i thought i heard somewhere that that's what they do to Shark Jaws...Anyway the next day i looked in the pot that i had them soaking in overnight in the Bleach solution and i was gutted, all that was left was 2 Jawbones and a pile of Teeth in the bottom...Obviously the Bleach had eaten through the cartilage that was holding everything together and that was the end of my experiment!
