Wheres everyone from, and whats the fishing like in your home area???
Just thought I would start a topic that could give others ideas for fishing partners, or even get to know areas where forum users usually are found fishing where we could run into each other when out fishing...
Myself, I am from Colborne, small town bout 45 min east of Oshawa and 45 west of Belleville on the 401. For those who travel the 401 east, you will pass a big red apple.... Thats the exit for Colborne. small community of 2400 people.
Colborne Creek - Rainbows avg 10lb in the spring, specs 6"-12" & Bows 6"-15" in the summer, Salmon avg 10lb in the fall. averages about 2 feet deep, some holes up to 5 feet deep. averages 8-10 feet wide.
Other areas with in 30min main road drive (non highway) Cobourg Creek, Brook Creek, Factory Creek, Shelter Valley, Ganaraska River, Brighton Bay, Rice Lake, Trent River, Bay Of Quinte, Lake OntarioChad Miller

Miller Photography
www.millerphoto.ca

I'm In Halifax Nova Scotia currently, but was raised in Mississauga, ON.
My favorite Ontario spots are Lake Scugog, Little Vermilion, Jack Lake, Toronto Islands and the Credit River.
I havent explored Nova Scotia too much yet, but I plan to this year!
I.m in Ontario for a a couple weeks around pike opener, so I'll most likely be at TO islands very soon!

I came from my mothers womb and since then have lived all over the freaking place. I moving again this weekend from the beautiful shores of the BOQ down to the lovely riverbanks of the Niagara. I will miss all the great fishing I have done in the Quinte area but lets be honest, its the Niagara , how can one complain. I'll be in Toronto for the next few days on business and hope to wet a line at some point.

Re: Wheres everyone from, and whats the fishing like in your home area???
I live and have lived in Toledo Ohio my whole life. Been very lucky to live in an area with amazing fishing all around us. Fishing here started over a month ago, the walleye from Lake Erie head up the Maumee River(about 8 minutes away) to spawn. In the last 2 weeks have put about 30 walleye in the freezer and have eaten another 12. Walleye are averaging about 3lbs with many caught over 5lbs. The next two weeks they should be spawning out in the lake, so until late June the fishing is amazing within 10 miles of shore. Going out on the lake Sunday on my boat, and hitting an inland lake in Michigan Saturday with Gary for some early Pike fishing.
On top of that we have about 40 inland lakes in Michigan within a hour and a half(great Bass fishing and Pike), Lake St. Clair(best Musky and Smallmouth lake there is) is about 45 minutes, Lake Michigan for Salmon, Niagara River is 4 hours away and caught many Trout there(20lbs biggest Laker so far), many tributaries of Lake Erie for fly fishing for trout, and too many great ponds to mention.
Even with all these great areas around me, I still spend a minimum of 3 weeks up in NW Ontario for the fly-in fishing for Pike. Also just booked my first trip to Northern Manitoba for 2010.
If anyone is in my area myself and my friends know the area very well and have many boats between us all. So drop me a line and we can set something up. Only time we don't fish much is Winter, ice-fishing has not caught our fancy much yet.

Re: Wheres everyone from, and whats the fishing like in your home area???
I lived in Normandy and i've studied the last 6 years in Britanny
I lived not so far from the sea where i spent most of my free time.
I feel really lucky to leave there cause we can catch a large variety of fish from trout to eel carpe pike sander.
As we've got the sea not so far we also have the possibility to catch sea species as sea bass or plaice.
I don't have boat but when you have one you can catch a lot of other species not so far from the shore.
When the result aren't there in river we can swoop to sea fishing that's the best.
I 'm usually fishing with lure but i'm also fond of fly fishing. I practice surf fishing during the winter and the start of spring.
This year i 'll move to India for one year so i'll have to discover the fishing world there.

In Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Have a few decent trout/salmon streams nearby. I live on Lake Ontario, but the fishing in the back yard isnt so great. Have a boat up in the Kawarthas, with very good fishing, but sadly, no pike.

Re: Wheres everyone from, and whats the fishing like in your home area???
Currently living in Toronto, but have lived and fished all over North America. I love fishing, but don't have a car or boat, so typically I stick around this area or places I know I can rent a boat for a decent price.
As for what I like to catch- the bigger, meaner, and more dangerous, the more I'll enjoy it. That said I don't mind light tackle fishing for panfish either. I am up for anything..
Just watch out for my... :stinker:Yes, Ed F took my avatar photo.
