Well my best day yet, managed 6 pike in total, all taken on spinners but smaller ones like Id use back home in the UK, mepps size 2 in silver and bronze got most with a bright yellow/red getting one, 4 of them where only 2-3 lbs each but good fun, one about 6lb and the last about 10lb, also managed a carp from the swan pond, about 14-15lb and what I think was a sheephead.

Was there from 10 - 3.30 and got most of the fish when there was cloud cover. also hooked into 2 larger ones but they pulled the hook before I could land them, also getting a number of follows.

Didnt get pics other than one of the earlier fish as my phone battery died :-( but the warm weather has definately got them going.

    Re: Islands Tomorrow (Friday)

I went out today (saturday) and I'd have to say the morning was pretty sad...

I tried the HD pike video's place in the morning and I lured out a pretty big pike, but it didn't properly bite the lure and then spat it out. Then it just swam around in a circle showing off its HUGE body, and then went away

After that there were a string of strikes but none of them hooked in properly...

Then in the afternoon with a bit of cloud cover I got my 1st pike southwest of great white bridge. Then, I returned to the HD video's place and got my 2nd pike. The second pike was pretty heavy, and in the beginning I thought it was a carp or something because it wouldn't move no matter how hard I pull.

Also, I'm starting to notice that some pikes have patches of injuries... I've caught a pike on tuesday which had an entire patch of scale and skin completely gone (just white flesh showing), about the size of a toonie. It also has red marks on the bottom fins and 1/10th of its tail is gone.

For my 2nd pike today, the same thing happened. It had a large round patch of scale completely blood red and has white mucus over it, and has red marks on the bottom fin and is missing 1/10th of its tail.

Maybe pike are fighting it out between themselves? Or maybe a bowfin defending eggs?
mmMMmmm... bet that fish tastes good!

We've seen lots of pike with battle damage on the islands. I cant speak for sure what theyre from but it looks to me like a battle with probably another pike. Pike here are very aggressive and are very opportunistic even to the point of cannibalism.

I'd like to see a photo though, if it was a perfectly round wound it may have been a lamprey.
