for the few of us who need an easy knot to tie in the wind or who do not see as well as they did a few decades ago.....or easy knot to learn for the younger angler....

That's pretty good. It's just two surgeons knots. I've used this loop over loop technique for my fly leaders for a while now, the fly line I have is even tipped with a streamlined loop for this very reason. The only problem is that this probably only scales up to about 30# flourocarbon, after that you start running in to stiffness and problems casting or getting the leader stuck in the eyes of your rod. Also if you're using too light of flourocarbon you risk cutting through it with your braided line.

These days when I'm attaching flourocarbon leader I use the seaguar knot. It's pretty easy, but the instruction above makes changing leader much easier. I might try it when Im steelheading. You can also pre-tie leaders using the loop technique.

I find using a double uni knot of great.

Especially because I usually tie Fluro directly onto braided line.

For lighter braid to lighter fluorocarbon, I use uni-to-uni.

For heavier braid to heavier fluorocarbon, I use the PR knot but instead of melting the fluorocarbon to form a nub to jam the knot, I use a figure 8 knot instead...so in essence it's like a hybrid slim beauty + PR knot. It's slim and pass through larger conventional guides pretty well...and it has stayed strong for me so far. This knot is best when the fluorocarbon diameter is the same or thicker than the braid...which is most of the cases anyways. You do not need to worry about matching the diameter of the line...so you can connect 30lb braid to a 60lb fluorocarbon leader if you need.

I pretty much use the uni to uni exclusively as well. If I'm using line that's too heavy for that (that would only be in salt water for me), I'll use a wind-on swivel.
