My first trip of the season to Algonquin 2013
Some friends and I get out for a spring fishing/canoe trip every year. This year we are going May 3-7. It has been a real nail biter in terms of weather because the ice just went out yesterday for canoe lake and probably the next couple days for Opeongo lake.
On top of that, the local communities near the park have all been in states of emergencies for flooding!
The Park has not officially started issuing back country permits but the inside word is that this friday it will open for the season, just in the nick of time.
This will be my first time fly-flishing in the park, but I am bringing my spinning set up also. Looking forward to the first trout of the year!

Any luck out there? I'm heading there this weekend. Looks like the frost warnings have lifted but we're looking at some rain on more than one day.
