    Two after work quickies

    Aug 25, 2014

My buddy Matt texted me on Monday afternoon...and we went out for a quick trolling session on Lake Ontario.

Lots of marks between 20-30 FOW...but not a touch...except for this male Brown Trout.

It was 23" and 7lbs. Really short but fat! He tasted delicious . The fish took a dipsy diver, flasher and fly combo down around 15 FOW over 37 FOW.

It was really rocky out there with 2-3 foot south swells and some messy wind chop. The only picture that turned out OK was this self timer shot I got at the launch.

Consistent salmon fishing from the piers is still at least a couple of weeks away.

Went for a quickie Friday night with Richard down by his boat. We figure the storm would hit around 9pm, but it arrived early and we really only got 1 hour of fishing before the lightning was just a bit too close.

Luckily, I got one of our targets before we had to retreat.

Richard got a good hit about 2 minutes before it started raining...but we had to leave the fish for another day.

We spent the rest of the evening watching lightning from Richard's yacht club clubhouse, enjoying some brew and calamari. While hanging out, I met a gentleman who was a post-production manager of Bob Izumi. Had an awesome chat with him about fishing around the world, and his time with Bob. Everyone I've talked to had nothing but good things to say about Bob and Wayne. Maybe one day I'll have the honour to meet them.

Fall is coming...the pike bite will get better and better as the days get shorter.
