What type of camera do you take fishing with you?

I've got a few cameras, but most commonly I use my old Canon G5 when I go fishing. It's a 5mp camera thats 4-5 years old now, but it gets the job done!

Canon as well, mine's the 6.0 Mega Pixel Powershot SD630 Digital Elph...It has the biggest screen on the back for the camera size (3 inch i think)...It is a fantastic camera that takes very nice photo's, the only downside is that the Macro zoom is Digital and not Optical so when i'm trying to take close up's of my fish at home, it's hit or miss whether they'll be any good or not! :scratch_ones_head:

The Elph is a solid little camera. I picked up the 790 for my wife at Christmas - 10mp with 3 inch screen...something tells me she wont let me take it fishing.

I've had my Canon Elph SD10 since 2003 I think, its a 4MP cell phone sized camera. It's the camera equivalent of the derringer pistol. Eventually you're able to shoot amazing photos without even using the screen. 90% of the photos you've seen on fishing fury that I have taken were taken with this little camera.

I've been meaning to replace it, but I've yet to find a camera as versatile in the same tiny package, not to mention the beautiful and simple styling (I have the black one of course).

I only bought a Canon because when i 1st discovered this site i was reading about Camera's you were trying out and i remember reading something like , the camera wasn't bad but it wasn't like the Canon you had that saved all the settings and didn't need to be re-done everytime you switched it on...Something like that anyway, but i needed a new Camera so i went for one of the newest Canon's at the time, so because of FF, i 've got a very nice Camera now, cheers!

I bought the new Sony Camera last year before my fishing trips, its 10mp with a nice big viewing back. Biggest reason I bought that digital was because it had great zoom on it, too many good pictures wasted because the bear/bald eagle was too far away. Love the camera, but I don't have a fancy screen shot like the FF guys!!! :sarcastic:

P.S. The pictures quality is awesome.

Ya that was a Kodak v570 that I had. It was a neat toy for a while. It actually has two lenses, the ultrawide lens was great. Overall the usability of the camera was the failure in that as you recall every time I turned it on it kept changing modes (like portrait, night shot, sport, sport 2, whatever) or at least I could not get it to start in the mode I wanted. Which brings up another point, the camera had a ton of modes, most of which I found useless. I guess the camera was meant for a different crowd.

Nothing fancy here, I've only ever owned one digicam, & it's a Sony Cyber-Shot 3.2 mp.
I bought it in May 2004 & it's still going strong!
    I didn't realize I could even take video until 2006... :angry2:
I kinda remember what I paid for it then, & I see what camera's are worth now, & it makes me :bad:

That Camera WAS meant for a different crowd Jonathon, the sort of people that take nothing but landscapes and have all day to set the thing up for the perfect shot...Not the sort of people that have a fish flapping and dangling about with only a short time to get it's picture before it has to be released again

Re: What type of camera do you take fishing with you?

We are starting to get a nice collection of cameras around here. However which ones do I take fishing, umm that would be the camera on my Blackberry, lol.

Clive you should take a look at the G10, the replacement for your G5. Sweet camera forsure. Fuji has a nice point and shoot that comes with the underwater housing for under 200$ I've sold a few to the outdoors types. I like the Olympus SW series for any outdoor adventurer. They take nice photos and are affordable.

I guess the part I haven't mastered yet is using the camera when out, lol.
