fish pic tips
Does anyone have any tips for getting good picture of the fish I catch when I’m the only one there? Most of mine are crappy close-ups because I can only hold the fish so far away from my body. In fact I seems like my last pic had more of the focus on the background (first fish of the year thread in the reports section). I use a digital elph and hope to get a waterproof camera soon but for now the elph is all I’ve got.

Depends on where you fish!
When shore fishing alone I often use a rock or small tripod (you can get some small enough to fit in your tackle box.
Generally I get a good hold of the fish with one hand (usually the tail to keep its head in the water), place your camera where it needs to be (you can also do this before grabbing the fish) - leave on auto, set timer then step back and hold up your fish!
Heres a few I did on my own...

The camera used for these pics was the Canon G5, which has a rotating screen that makes it easy to see yourself.
Gorilla style tripods are good because you can attach them to trees and other things near the water...

Clive is 100% correct on all points. The only thing I would suggest is practicing and understanding the focal range of your camera. You need to know how far away from the camera you need to be to get the full frame. Otherwise you can cut off your head or the fishes head/tail.

Re: fish pic tips
Well I guess I’ll have a bunch of silly looking pics of me in my living room holding stuff out to the camera until I get the hang of the range.
Thanks for the tips guys.
